CONGRATULATIONS to DeVante’ Sherwood, for being selected as one of The Links 2009 Prelude Scholars.

DeVante’ was awarded The Ohio State University Martin Luther King Junior Scholar award in January 2009.  DeVante’ is the son of Stephanie Sherwood, our secretary, and he is an OUTSTANDING student and athlete.

Ganthers Place is proud to have him our community.  He is a role model for what our children can achieve, through hard work, dedication and a strong support system in family and friends.

~KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK DEVANTE’~

We would like to extend our hearts and prayers to Blake in his time of sickness.  We would like to say Get Well Soon, and stay strong.  A lot of people that you don’t know are praying and loving you today and everyday.  We hope that your family will continue to stay strong and focus on the most important aspect of your illness…YOUR LIFE!

A Note From The Heart

Some representatives from Ganthers Place recently attended a meeting concerning the South Side of Columbus.  A heated discussion at that meeting has prompted me to write this to our residents.

Ganthers Place Block Watch supports all residents, as people, that are of low income status.  If you are living at or below the poverty level, we want you to know that you are welcome in OUR neighborhood.

A lot of people have the feeling that the Block Watch are a bunch of upity, rich, white people.  We are just the opposite.  We are a very diverse group; young, old, black, white, straight, gay, poor and middle class.  We DO NOT discriminate and we do not try to put people down, or run them out of the neighborhood because they can’t afford a $3 Million dollar home.

We, like you, struggle and work for everything that we do and have.  We just want a cleaner, safer place to live, work and raise our children and pets.  We have renters, home owners and section 8 renters too.  We welcome everyone from all walks of life.  Not just the ones hand picked from perfection.

All we ever ask of ALL the residents of Ganthers Place is to take pride in where you live.  Be as proud as we are to live in a neighborhood that is on the rise.  Proud that you can look out your door in the morning and see clean streets, neighbors walking on sidewalks, children playing in yards and flowers everywhere the eye can see.

Ganthers Place is a neighborhood for ALL people and we extend our hearts and hands to you all.
